I'll stick to my collection of external WD drives that I rotate off-site every so often. If I have a drive that is silently failing, (or some other non-obvious reason for losing files) I really don't want my backup to silently fail at the same time! In other words, if you delete files on your computer, or the drive fails and you're disconnected from Backblaze's website, Backblaze will see that those files are gone and will remove them from your online account, too. Something else I should mention is that some users have had bad experiences with Backblaze because of a not-so-apparent feature that maybe should be a lot more obvious: Backblaze does not function as a permanent archive of all of your data, but instead as a mirror. I'm tempted but cautious.įrom an otherwise rave review of BackBlaze: The cost of $5 month for unlimited storage seems like a good deal to me, maybe too good a deal and you know what they say things that sound too good to be true. I've never been a big fan of cloud storage and if I were to use this service, it would be used for supplementary storage only. Has anyone heard of and/or used Backblaze, a cloud data storage provider? They allege their service offers unlimited data and file storage for $5/month or $50/year (paid upfront).
